Jan Huntsinger has recently experienced the lost of what
she considered her best friend, her sister Donna. In the
days after losing her sister, Jan with four grandsons of her
own realized that Donna’s grandchildren would never get
to know their grandmother. She then remembered
something that she and her sister had talked about doing
and she decided the best way to honor her sister was to
put into words the life they had lived. Now all their
grandchildren would know what it was like in the 1950’s in
Independence, Missouri. Thus the idea of ‘Growing Up
With My Best Friend’ was born.

Jan’s entire life has been centered on her family, a loving
husband of 41 years who passed in 2002, two daughters
and sons-in-law and four grandsons. All of sudden her life
was all new, with new thresholds to step though that
would take courage and faith. She decided to leave the
medical field where she worked for 30 years as a part of an
office medical team. She has served as an Elder in her
church for 11 years, served on the City Council, was a
member of the Independence Young Matrons, a leader in
both Girl Scouts and Campfire Girls when her girls where
small.

With her constant companion, an English Setter, named
Hannah at her feet, she decided to be bold again and write
her first book.
